Research in Laus Group at East Piemonte University and within the Consortium INSTM focuses on creating new polymeric materials and refining their properties with a fundamental understanding of their physical behavior. We work to apply these novel materials in areas ranging from lithography, to bioinspired systems and nanotechnology.
Our research expertise includes synthesis of designed polymers by controlled polymerization techniques, characterization, and practical application of polymers as functional and structural materials.
Full professor at UPO
Michele Laus is Full Professor of Industrial Chemistry at the University of Eastern Piedmont. He received his degree with honors and a PhD in Industrial Chemistry and has carried out research and teaching activities at Cornell University and the University of Freiburg. His scientific activity focuses on advanced polymeric materials, nanocomposites, block copolymers, materials for microelectronics, reversible networks, and sustainable polymers, including CO₂-based systems.
He is the author of approximately 280 scientific publications and 18 patents and is internationally recognized for his extensive invited and keynote lectures. He has held and continues to hold leading roles at both national and international levels, including President of the Italian Association of Macromolecular Science and Technology (AIM) and executive positions within the European Polymer Federation. He has coordinated numerous national, European, and industrial research projects and was a founder of one of the first spin-off companies of the University of Eastern Piedmont.
